The organization’s community conducts their campaigns in 17 languages in their effort to address global, national and regional challenges.

Avaaz was co-founded by Ricken Patel, the president, and executive director. Ricken pursued politics, philosophy, and economics at Balliol College, Oxford University. Avaaz’s significant achievements

The organization has been able to pull key global achievements within the short period of its existence. Notably is the Paris Climate accord. This came after the organization held a series of people’s climate campaigns in 2014 and 2015. Its mobilization effort recorded the highest number of public participation, over 15 million people, in a climate change campaign history. The campaign included prominent global leaders such as the UN secretary general and French ministers. Their success in persuading the G7 summit to bring to control the use of fossil fuel shocked many.

Another key achievement is the organization’s tireless effort to keep the internet free from corporate control and government censorship. Avaaz has played a vital role in fighting for and eventually winning this in four continents. Over 2.8 million people participated by filing their petitions on this.

Other notable contributions of the organization include their victory in the biggest ocean conservation where approximately 1.3 million people signed a petition, the fight against the use of harmful agricultural chemicals, killing the Murdoch Mafia, and the war against corruption in Brazil. Avaaz has made great contributions to the planet. It strives to do more.
