Michel Terpins The Brazilian Rally Champion

Rally sports are an exciting sport to adrenaline junkies. One person who happens to fall in this list is Michel Terpins. If you are a rally sports follower more so in Brazil, you wouldn’t need any introduction with the mention of Michel Terpins. At 40 years of age, Michel Terpins has been able to achieve quite a lot compared to other racers. What are the achievements of Michel Terpins and how is he able to achieve all of this?

You’ve probably heard the name Terpins being mentioned a number of times when it comes to sports news. Yes, Michel Terpins comes from a rich sporting family. His father Jack Terpins made a name for himself as one of the greatest basketball players Brazil ever had in the 1960s and 1970s. He was also fortunate enough to become the president of sport in his country. This two factors motivated Michel Terpins and his elder brother, Rodrigo to join the sporting world despite the two brothers choosing a different line from their father.

Michel Terpins debuted rally racing in 2002 in the motorcycle category. With a great passion for the sports, Michel was exemplary winning a number of trophies and competitions. However being a fast learner, it didn’t take Michel Terpins long to join his brother in the cars category. Here, Michel rode with his brother sailing him through a number of competitions. Once again Michel was able to challenge himself climbing up the ladder to become a driver.

In the 22nd Sertões Rally edition, Michel Terpins competed with his navigator Maykel Justo finishing at position five. To the duo, this was quite an achievement going by the fact that there was a mechanical glitch during the third race where after covering 306Km the two were forced to come to a standstill to allow for mechanical repairs. However, during the first two races, Michel and Justo were able to top the table.

Like his brother, Michel Terpins drives the famous T-Rex superb car sponsored and serviced by MEM Motorsport and is part of the Red Bulls Sertões Rally team. Michel also competes in the prototype T1 race category alongside his brother Rodrigo.
